good situation for city and park
this hotel is traditonal and friendly. Clean and tidy, fairly quiet too. Very close to the Metro although the stop is right on edge of central Paris but the Bois de Vincennes park is closeby which is great for a quiet walk. The Avenue Daumesnil has many decent shops plus a Subway and McDonald's close by if you're on a budget but there are some nice cafes too and the Bistro de la Porte Doree just round the corner is great for dinner and not too expensive. Would definately stay again
Great hotel in an excellent location - Sunday markets selling fruit & veg right outside the front door, pattisserie accross the road, cafes, restaurants & monoprix very handy. Come out the Metro at Exit 2 and your about 20steps from the hotel. IT was nice coming back to the area/hotel after a days sightseeing as not too many tourists around porte doree which is a plus!
Not far at all from the city (we managed to walk in to notre dame one morning - although it was a hike, it was nice after eating crossaints for brekky!). Otherwise only 15mins from the city on metro.
you must go for a walk around the lake at bois du vincennes - looovely area.
Bed was comfy. Had a tv in the room. Yes the room was smallish, it was big enough for us and the ensuite was a good size. (note: the ensuite does have the shower in the bath with no curtain, so we tended to sit down so not to make a mess). We were in room 42 which was right up the top at the end, so reasonably quiet. Whilst you can feel the metro slightly, you barely even notice it - im a light sleeper and it didnt bother me at all.
Would definately stay again.

a little gem in paris
I was at this hotel last weekend and i must say what a lovely place it is. Very close to Porte Doree metro station. Tidy and clean on outside. Welcoming entance lobby and reception with lots of information to be looked at. Very interesting and lovely decorated place with lots of charm. I stayed in a twin room and i must say it was very nicely decorated and very large room indeed with separate toilet and bathroom and very clean. I found the staff at this hotel to be all very pleasant and doing a good job. I had the breakfast which i paid extra for but did not mind at all as it was very varied so worth the money and the gentlemen was very friendly who was attending to the breakfast area. In all my experience of this hotel is very pleasing and wouldnt hesitate to go back as i found nothing to complain about and it is easy to find and get about on metro to anywhere from it as i found out. Excellent hotel
I can only say how wonderful this hotel was - there was a small issue with my room but the lovely friendly and helpful staff storted it out within 10 mins and I will definately be recommending to my friends and going back next year. Reviewed by Joanna Ward, who stayed in November 2010
Best Kept Secret in Paris
We stayed here for four nights at the end of October and already planning our next visit. This little hotel is a hidden gem! Lovely hotel perfect for a romantic weekend in Paris. Beautiful park close by, excellent boulangerie across the road, and a gorgeous, reasonably priced restaurant around the corner. Right beside the metro too so no carrying bags for miles! Couldn't believe our luck when we booked this at such a great price, but completely surpassed our expectations. Would thoroughly recommend staying here - Bon Voyage! So So
Bathroom is too small, but clean. Reviewed by P Su, who stayed in October 2010
Nice, clean and did the job.
We booked and stayed at the Porte Doree hotel for 3 nights and it was what we wanted. Very clean room with a modern shower/toilet room. The only bad thing we could have picked out was the shower was small but that didn't bother us. Being both 20 years of age we were out most of the time sight seeing etc. You can hear a train go by on a near by bridge but it didn't put us off our well deserved sleep!
Very nice and friendly place to stay. Reviewed by S Young, who stayed in September 2010
Hotel de la porte doree
This is a fantastic hotel in Paris. I cannot comment on how helpful the staff were. Any concerns were taken care of and the rooms are great. Extremly close to Metro (150m). There are numerous restuarants and grocery stores near by. I would highly recommend this hotel as your base when staying in Paris. Reviewed by M Neville, who stayed in June 2010
