Poor customer service
Our room had a stinking fridge which obviously had not been cleaned in weeks (rust inside) and did not work. The bathroom air vent was broken and had come off the wall. When I complained I was told I could have another room which was on floor 5 (lift out of service). The receptionist who (having been told I had a bad knee) sent me upstairs to see the room for myself. This room was tiny, the fridge there also out of order! I then re-visited the receptionist to tell him what I thought. I asked for my money back and we would leave. Was told this was not possible no supervisor available for 2 days. Next morning a visit from a supervisor and was told to fix the vent problem myself!! At no time did I receive an apology. The staff were rude, unhelpful and confrontational. Will NOT be staying there again or recommending it to anyone. Reviewed by J Wynne-Jones, who stayed in April 2012
A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
So, you look at the website and it looks very glamorous. I have to admit, the location is quite good. We walked in and straight away, a total let down - NOTHING LIKE THE WEBSITE PICTURES. We were checked in and paid for the full time we were there, and only then were we told we were on the fifth floor - oooooo and by the way - the lift is not working! Spiral staircase and two flights of stairs to each floor; not good. Felt so sick and giddy everytime we had to go up or down them, let alone thoroughly exhausted. No hot water in the shower late at night and after walking around Paris in 29 degree heat, you want a shower by the time you get in. I called down to be told to leave it running for 10 minutes. Whilst turning it on again; it became apparent that the glass shower enclosure was loose and it actually came away at the bottom. After leaving the shower running for 15 minutes, I called down to reception again to inform them of no hot water and to also inform them that the glass shower door was dangerous. Basically, they didn't care. We were told they will tell someone in the morning. We were pleased to see that we did have hot water in the mornings though. On our last day I get in the shower and said door fell on me. No apologies were given. The rooms are not as clean as they could be either - soap scum in the bath making it very slippery. I will never stay here again. Reviewed by Emma S, who stayed in September 2011

A great place to stay.
I booked this hotel based on other peoples great reviews, and I must say it does live up to its merits. It is in an extremely convenient location: 3 train stops from Gare du Nord station and 6 stops from St.Michel which is slap bang in the middle of Paris, right on top of the river with Notre Dame 3 minutes walk away. Brilliant. And the reason for going to St. Michel is because the agency for booking tours and cruises is there. The Hotel is clean and the staff were very helpful. The rooms are nicely decorated and furnished to a high standard. A very pleasurable 1 night stay that was only tainted by 2 small problems. We had booked requesting a double room but actually got a twin with the beds pushed together. Not nice for a romantic break. And we were surprised not to find tea or coffee making facilities, although a small fridge is provided to keep any of your own drinks, or even snacks, cold. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely book there again. Reviewed by T Stevens, who stayed in June 2011

Great hotel in a perfect spot, it really has a fantastic location
Location, perfect, decent sized room, ok ensuite, breakfast a little expensive, so we only had it once and just bought local produce on the way to walking tours etc. Quiet-ish street, off the main road. Reviewed by Peter K, who stayed in May 2011
Good hotel in a handy location
The staff at the Grand Moris were very helpful when we needed anything (which wasn't often) and pointed us in the direction of local restaurants and cafes.
The room itself was very clean and towels etc replaced every day. The room was a good size for hotels in Paris and was in good condition. We stayed in a street side room and there was no problem with noise, even with the window open.
The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk from Les Halles and the Pompidou Centre and metro stations (Republique and Strasbourg St Denis) are only a couple of minutes either side of the hotel - although Strasbourg St Denis is only operating on 1 of the 3 lines just now whilst its being renovated.
Around the hotel are a number of cafes and shops so its easy to get breakfast even if you don't want to eat in the hotel (having a fridge in the room is handy too if you're watching the pennies).
Overall, the Hotel Moris was a very good base for a city break in Paris, close to the Metro for getting to all the sights in the city and within safe walking distance of most too if you're feeling energetic, Reviewed by D Scally, who stayed in February 2011
Paris Break
Ideally located hotel if arriving at Gare du Nord, just a short walk or Metro ride away. The room was exceptionally comfortable and clean. We did not try the breakfast as there were many cafes nearby offering cheaper alternatives. Great location for catching the Metro or the Open Top Tour Bus. Wonderful cafes/restaurants within walking distance. Reviewed by A Conneely, who stayed in September 2010
Clean and Convenient
Our only criticisms are that the room was a bit small and there was no air con. (which would be a problem in high summer) Otherwise, very good indeed, comfortable bed, convenient location about half way between Gard du Nord & main sights with a nice walking route down the Rue Saint-Denis. Quality good value hotel
Having read previous reviews, the hotel lived up to the positive comments. The room was compact but very clean and in good condition. The staff were very helpful and friendly and close to 2 metro stations made it an excellent location. Will stay here on future visits. Reviewed by R Carpenter, who stayed in July 2010
