close to everything
The hotel is an old building therefore needs a lot of refurbishing. My room is very dark and quite small even for 1 person. The location is perfect, closes to everything, only 2 min walk to metro. Staff at the front desk and housekeeping are helpful and friendly. Reviewed by j kumpiranonda, who stayed in October 2011
This is a smokers hotel
I was surprised to find out on arrival that this hotel is entirely given over to smokers.
All the bedrooms are designated smokers rooms. The owner of the hotel is a smoker so does not make any allowances for guests who do not follow this habit. Nowhere on any of the reviews does it say the rooms have a stale cigarette smell, they do. If you enjoy sleeping in a room full of stale tobacco essence this hotel is for you. Ahhh, Paris
The Hotel Paris Rivoli was a good place to stay for three reasons; courtesy, accommodation and convenience. During my stay I never encountered the rudeness that Americans are forewarned to anticipate but was treated graciously and kind.
The elevator and sleeping quarters were typical for Europe, yet they managed to have an extra bed, a desk and free WIFI in my room, and the bathroom, larger than those in other countries, felt like a luxury.
The hotel's continental breakfast had melt in your mouth croissants and excellent coffee, but for something a little more substantial there are sidewalk cafes nearby. You can also walk to The Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, The Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
If you're going to Europe and expect a run of the mill American hotel where everything is the same old, same old, don't stay here. If you want to immerse yourself in Paris for what is considered inexpensive by French standards, this hotel is the one for you. Reviewed by Barbara B, who stayed in October 2011
Hotel very well located in nice safe district. Perfect central location for city attractions, very close to St Paul Metro Station and bus stop right outside hotel. Small hotel with good sized room .Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable breakfast room, Mini bar in room and cold drinks machine in lobby. Everything we were looking for during our short stay, couldn't fault it. Reviewed by S BROWN, who stayed in July 2011
Hotel Paris Rivoli - excellent
The Rivoli is in a very central position, close to Notre Dame and le Louvre. We got a bus from the airport to Gare de Lyon and the Metro to Saint Pauls (2 Stops). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was not large, but have known smaller in cities, with a clean and good sized en suite. Plenty of restaurants close by, off the street and down by the Seine near Notre Dame. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting good, reasonable accommodation. Very sound place
This hotel is well located, a couple of hundred yards down the street from St Paul tube station. It's in a nice area (le marais) the jewish quarter being located along the side streets opposite, the letin quarter to the rear. The hotel itself was clean, the bedroom was fine, the bathroom modern, bright and spotlesss. At 125 euro per night it wasn't cheap ( I was alone so it made the room more expensive) but the impression I got from reading reviews was that nice hotels in Paris are expensive. But for cleanliness, location and staff, who were friendly I'd recommend it. Didn't have breakfast as I preferred going to the local cafes for the streetside sunshine. Great location for Notre Dame and Marais
This hotel is an excellent value for the location. Our primary goal when we stopped in Paris overnight during our European road trip was to stay in a reasonably priced hotel in a prime location close to the Centre Pompidou and the Marais, and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. We were able to walk to all the places we wanted to visit - a visit to Notre Dame was not on our list but so it was so close that we couldn't pass up the opportunity for a walk-by.
The rooms were small but clean and had nice large windows so the room felt less cramped. The bathrooms were small as well but did have bathtubs to enjoy a proper soak after a long day of walking. Just a note for those who prefer more modern decor - the hotel is decorated with traditional carpeting and furniture so it may not feel as "fresh" as some might prefer. My husband and I and our friend from LA all felt that the rooms while clean, had a bit of an old musty feel about them. Still, we all agreed on the outstanding location and excellent value. The hotel is in an excellent location! Notre Dame and Louvre were only 10-15 mins walk from the hotel.Though the room was small, it was very cosy, neat and tidy. Staff was very very friendly and helpful. Service was excellent too.We enjoyed our stay as well as the breakfast in the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Nice location
Room's a bit small but to be expected for Europe. Could hear some noise from street but wasn't too disturbing. Excellent location as bus system is easy to figure out and bus stop is right across to street to get to the Louvre or elsewhere. On return, bus stops in back of the hotel, just a short block away. Lots or restaurants nearby in all directions from the hotel. Reviewed by D. Ching, who stayed in March 2011
