Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights as a couple. Hotel well presented, location very convenient, metro station just round the corner. Staff friendly and helpful. They even lent us an adaptor for a deposit. We got an upgrade as they were fully booked, so we were told. Our room was small though, but that seems to be the norm, with a balkony on to the main street which was nice, nice little en-suite. Room was clean, bed a bit too soft for our liking but that`s very individual anyway. Overall we had a good night. The only thing we would have liked is more storage, we only had one shelf and a few hangers for our clothes.
We decided not to have breakfast the first morning, instead we found a brasserie and had some there. For 5euro per person, we had a hot drink, crossaint, piece of bread and butter, which we found a bit pricey for what you got. So we had breakfast at the hotel next morning, 9euro each, not a massive choice, cannot compare to British hotels, but you could have a yogurt, cereals, tinned fruit, a good few types of fresh pastry , only 2 types of cheese, to drink 2 types of fruit juice and hot drink machine. But you can eat as much as you like so worth it.
So overall we enjoyed our stay here very much and would definitely book in again. Reviewed by Alexander W, who stayed in April 2012

Small, but clean, friendly staff, good value (as good as you can get in Paris anyway...)
The hotel was reasonably easy to find, the reception staff spoke good French and English, the check in process was quick and easy. The room itself was compact and basic, but exceptionally clean and well-kept. The bathroom in particular was spotless and very nice, with a good powerful shower. We slept well and checked out quickly and easily in the morning.
The hotel overall is good value, considering it's in Paris and everything costs around 10x more than it really should... would recommend to anybody on a budget. Reviewed by Dan M, who stayed in January 2012
Good value for a short break
Small but perfectly formed room, ideal for medium sized people, decorated in a modern style, and incredibly quiet. Clothes storage space only appropriate for a couple of nights. Very close to Juares metro station - shame no metro maps / public transport and tourist information readily to hand though Reviewed by Peter J, who stayed in January 2012
Room was simple, comfortable and quiet, toilet very tiny and a long way from the sink! Reviewed by Mary J, who stayed in October 2011
not up to the usual standard
when we arrived the hotel had had to shut one room down and therefore transferred us to their other hotel libertel suede back at the station that we had just come from. This hotel was not finished and we could not use the stairs only the lift. Also on 4th floor when we requested low floor. We had another two nights at libertel canal saint martin, at the end of our holiday and this was allright. Liked that hotel better. Reviewed by R Carter, who stayed in September 2011
Review
The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful, especially to two weary travellers who had suffered several delays on the travel to Paris.
The room itself was clean, tidy and on the whole accommodated for all our needs - despite the size of towels in the bathroom can be a cause for hilarity.
The area of the hotel is a little while away on foot from Gare Du Nord, but it's a manageable distance none the less. Reviewed by S Webb, who stayed in September 2011
Fine. Clean if a little small room. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Fair value for money. Interesting area with pleasant canal for a jog, bars and cinemas round the corner. Lovely bakery nearby. Great chinese fast food opposite. Very handy for the tube. Reviewed by Richard G, who stayed in August 2011
Clean and good value hotel
We stayed in an air conditioned and recently rennovated room. Not in the city centre but close to underground station and buses which are easy to use.Close to supermarket and an awesome bakery around the corner. Basic but clean and was what we needed for our stay. Reviewed by Grant E, who stayed in August 2011
Clean and modern but I hated it
We booked a twin superior room at the Libertel Canal st Martin. If this is the superior room god knows what the others were like. All the nonsense written about small parissienne rooms being the norm. I've been staying in Paris for years and not had any complaints. This room was way too small and you couldnt unpack. There were no drawers to put anything. If you book a twin room you should at least be able to pull the beds apart otherwise you might as well have booked a double. The toilet/bathroom was a feat of engineering, I'm only 4ft 11 and I had difficulty with the shower which kept on switching off everytime I turned around. I complained that the shower was not running away correctly but nothing was done and it meant having to stand in 3 ins of water which was horrible. The door way to the bathroom/toilet slid across to separate it from the main room and every thing could be heard. There was no fridge in the room (very important in summer)The hotel was soulless nowhere to sit and relax. Cant comment on breakfast as we declined.
Didnt like the area- road was very busy and noisy for most of the night and I had very little sleep for the three nights we stayed.
On the up side it was very clean, the very small towels were replaced daily and the rooms were cleaned. There is 24 hour accessand the area is very active and close to the Gare du Nord. I would only recommend if you are passing through for a couple of nights and need somewhere clean to sleep but certainly not for a holiday where the hotel is part of the overall experience. Simple hotel with good location and perfect customer service
I have never been in a hotel where the staff is as friendly as in Libertel Canal Saint Martin. Everything went so smoothly with the booking and every time time we entered the hotel, the receptionist was smiling and greeting us. The hotel was clean and simple, a small room but with everything necessary (clean bed, clean shower, window to the quiet courtyard, tv etc.). Everything worked at the hotel and there was even a little indoor garden to go and relax after a long day in Paris. The hotel location was in a good neighborhood with plenty of shops around and easy to access Paris by metro. When we left the hotel, the receptionist was very helpful and patient to order us a taxi (which is very difficult in Paris) and give us directions and information. I would highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again when in Paris. Reviewed by Anna-Maria V, who stayed in June 2011
