Our stay at Novotel Gare de Lyon Paris in August 2011
Mum and 3 kids stayed in family room (11 years old and two 15 year old kids), room and hotel was very clean and had everything you needed. Although we asked for more pillows, we were told that we had enough for the room.(We wanted 2 pillows each as the pillows were flat). Toilet was tiny, but bathroom made up for that as it had a separate shower and bath. Maids came in each day and made the beds and changed towels and replaced the free coffee. Not a good view out of room window, we were looking out onto flats although my kids enjoyed watching people (mostly teenagers) rollerblade in the evening in the area around the station and flats. Area is quiet rundown and you back onto the station, where there is building work going on that started about 9ish. Air con wasn't great in the room and hotel did sort it out once, but it reverted back to not working the next day, but I might have not set the dial correct. There was an indoor swimming pool that my kids loved.(its open till midnight and the kids would swim until then). The hotel restaurant served good food. The breakfast is fabulous although pricey. Staff on front desk were very helpful. Location wise, you are not in the heart of Paris, but you are not that far away. We walked to the Seine (15 mins) and got the river bus everyday to the attractions, we also used the buses that stopped near our hotel and as the station is next door, we also used the metro. Taxis were not that expensive. (20 euros from Gare de Nore to hotel). Gare de Lyon is bustling with cafes and the tourist information centre were very helpful and friendly. The restaurants around the hotel were cheaper to eat in than in the tourist areas. We all loved our trip to Paris and would definately stay in a Novotel again but in a different part of Paris for a new experience. Reviewed by M Bryan, who stayed in August 2011

Good location for Station, but did not reflect good value for money. Reviewed by Alan L, who stayed in June 2011

Its not the george cinq, but then at these prices you would be foolish to think it was.
We were a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children. We were able to walk to Bastille, Marais and Austerlitz. The Gare du Lyon was on our doorstep for the metro. Each night before dinner we came back and had a swim.
The bed was comfortable. The room was clean - its a bit dated and very much a business trip type hotel but quite frankly I was delighted with it.
It also had parking, and was easy access from the peripherique.
If I was coming with the family again I would definately stay again.
we did not have breakfast as there were so many great cafe's right outside the station to eat in. Reviewed by G M, who stayed in April 2011

Hotel is good for overnight sleeping.. Room was too small and toilet had only 1m2. My main complaint relates to the blocked toilet (clogged sewer system)...

Very convenient for Gare du Lyon and a nice walk to the Isle de la Cite. Staff helpful, the first room seemed like someone had been smoking in it and they immediately changed us to a different - larger room. Reviewed by Garry E, who stayed in September 2010
